I've been trying the Virtuous Cycle and experience a few weird behaviors. I feel it only works really close (haven't tested on 100% flat terrain like Narthex, only in the main hub area). Just for reference, i used it just a bit farther than the aggro-range.
Hadern's knife throw misses like 90% of the time even when (imo) i'm in a good position. Might be good to point out that after falling on the enemy the "smash attacked" triggered again Not sure what causes this, but i think it was cause i fell on top of the enemy (in my case was the Grisha in the camp near Gorf). With the Axe, after using the weapon ability my character would get "stuck" (not able to attack or use abilities) yet i'd still be able to move and dodge.

I got stuck inside a tree near the main starting Tower (in that area with the 2 enemy camps opposite of each other full of traps) With the Katana, using the weapon ability would teleport me into the level geometry and i would get stuck. For example Eredrin isn't suited for the Martyr's Blade because you need to be full stamina for a full combo, and then you aren't able to dodge anything. Once you pick up this shell and speak to Sester Genessa, you will be able to pay 250 Tar to get a look at its stats and skills. Harros, the Vassal will be your first shell in Mortal Shell, but that doesnt mean its only good for the early game. Only 12 votes but Im surprised Martyr has 41 currently. Hallowed Blade, it's a good balanced weapon, not too slow and decent range.

The best shells for this encounter are either the Harros or Solomon Shells. If not, do yourself a favor and do that first. Hopefully you've collected all the shells and weapons in the game, and have one or two maxed out.
